Aliases
|
What is an E-Mail account alias?
When your domain name is set up, You can set up a main email
address such as (you@yourdomain.com)
Then names for the
account (such as joe@yourdomain.com), can receive E-Mail that will be
re-directed to the original address (you@yourdomain.com). An aliased E-Mail
address like webmaster@yourdomain.com, info@yourdomain.com, and
sales@yourdomain.com,
can be convenient for allowing convenient access to you
for your customers through email. |

|
What's the difference between a mailbox and an alias?
When you first get your Hosting 4 LessTM account, you are assigned a new mailbox.
This will contain the E-Mail address username@yourdomain.com.
Any aliases added to this box will have the same characteristics as the first
E-Mail address. For instance a popular one might be adding an alias of
yourname@yourdomain.com.
Any E-Mail sent to that second address will forward
to the same place as the first address, invoke the same auto-responder as the
first, and generally behave just like the first address in all ways except
for the fact that the name is different. You can also send mail out under
your alias name. On the other hand, arranging for a second E-Mail box means
not only that you get a new E-Mail address, but you also get to configure it
completely independently of the first. |

Forwarding
|
What is forwarding?
Forwarding is a way of sending E-Mail to an address other than the one to
which it was originally addressed. We provide unlimited forwarding to POP
E-Mail accounts, which are usually included with your account from an
Internet Service Provider. Here's how it works:
- The mail server keeps a configuration file for the forwarding
information
- A piece of E-Mail comes in, addressed to someone at your domain.
- The E-Mail server software finds the listings for your domain name
in the configuration file.
- It checks for the specific alias at your domain.
- If it finds the alias specified, it will forward the mail to the
specified address.

My E-Mail forwarding is not working. How do I make it work?
Make sure that each of the addresses listed in the forwarding instructions
is current, hosted, and paid for! Sometimes people inadvertently leave an old
address on the forwarding instructions. If you believe that all of your
forwarding settings are correct (including any aliases), call Hosting 4
